There is widespread controversy on the different types of orgasms that women can experience in the sexual health community. According to a previous health sample, only about 65% of women reported that they regularly orgasm during sexual encounters. There is also debate between scientists on whether or not all female orgasms are related to the clitoris, even those that are activated by vaginal penetration.

Some previous research using ultrasound has found that in one couple that vaginal stimulation also stimulated internal clitoral structures. A previous mixed methods study also determined that about one fifth of women are not able to differentiate between different types of orgasms that they themselves have experienced and in approximately 59% of their orgasmic experiences there was no clear distinction.

Despite the ongoing debate, one consensus is clear, there is an orgasm gap between men and women and it is important to learn techniques and strategies that enhance a woman’s sexual experiences.

Every woman’s body is different. Communication with your sexual partner should be the main priority when discovering how to make a partner orgasm. What works for one woman may not work for another . It is also important to remember that not every woman may be able to experience every kind of orgasm. You should ask your partner continually about what they like and what has helped them reach an orgasm in the past.

Focus more on foreplay. Spending a little longer time on foreplay than what you normally would. Women often need several minutes of foreplay to build arousal and become primed to have an orgasm. Without enough foreplay, it will become much more likely for a woman to not orgasm. Making foreplay as fun as possible will also increase the likelihood of orgasm

1. Clitoral Orgasm

Clitoral orgasms are the most common type of orgasm that is experienced by women . According to formal women’s reports in sexual health research, clitoral orgasms are the easiest to reach by both themselves and with a partner. A focus on stimulating the clitoris is the gold standard way to help a woman reach an orgasm. Most women need direct clitoral stimulation to orgasm.

Best position

You can find the clitoris near the top of the vulva. To stimulate the clitoris, you can touch it or lick it in order to make the clitoris erect, more visible from the clitoral hood and increase arousal.

Engaging in sex positions that line up your partner’s clitoris with another area of your body can easily stimulate the clitoris.

Most women cannot orgasm without having their clitoris stimulated in some way.

The best positions are ones in which the woman is on top as these positions allow her to control the angle and speed of penetration . While on top, either you or she can rub her clitoris to achieve orgasm.

2. Vaginal Orgasm

Vaginal orgasms can occur by stimulating the vagina through penetration . This can happen by using a penis, fingers or sex toys.

Vaginal orgasms tend to feel a little more intense in the body. When they happen, the vaginal walls may pulsate and can result in an involuntary female ejaculate or squirting.

Not every woman can orgasm through vaginal penetration. Only about 21% of the time can a woman orgasm directly through the vagina without receiving clitoral stimulation at the same time.

Best position

The lotus sex position allows for deep penetration as well as pressure on the clitoris to make vaginal orgasms more possible. This position can be done by having the penetrating partner sit down on a bed cross legged then having the woman sit on his lap.

Once into position, the woman can wrap her legs around his back. If the woman maintains a back and forth motion while receiving penetration in this position, it is possible to experience a vaginal orgasm.

3. Anal Orgasm

Anal orgasms can be experienced via penetration or by stimulating the rim of the anus . These orgasms are often reported by women as being much more intense and occurring deeper in the body.

Best position

The spooning sex position resembles the typical standard cuddling position. You can get into this position by you and your partner lying on your sides facing the same direction. The penetrating partner will enter from behind while the receiving partner brings up their knees.

Either person can simultaneously stimulate the clitoris and insert a finger into the vagina to increase pleasure and make it easier to orgasm.

4. Cervical Orgasm

Cervical orgasms are much more rare compared to the other types of orgasm. Some women are unaware of this type of orgasm. In addition, some women report feeling very sensitive in that area and experience discomfort when their cervix is stimulated.

Best position

Doggie style is a great position to add pressure against the cervix. It is recommended to be more gentle when stimulating this area as too rough sex can bruise the cervix and cause sexual injuries. Just keep in mind that the location of the actual cervix can change in a woman depending on her menstrual cycle and level of arousal.

5. Combined Clitoral and Vaginal

This specific type of orgasm can last for several seconds longer than the average exclusive clitoral or vaginal orgasms . This kind of orgasm can also cause squirting and shaking .

Best position

This position can be accomplished by the woman laying on her back towards the end of a bed or couch. The male partner can then stand or kneel between the female partner's legs.

6. G Spot Orgasm

A G-Spot orgasm can occur by penetrating the vagina with a penis or by a sexual toy that is designed to pleasure this zone. The G-Spot can typically be found inside the vagina about an inch or two above the clitoris . However, its exact location varies depending on the woman.

Best position

A come hither motion made with two fingers inserted into the vagina can stimulate the clitoris . If a woman practices kegel exercises, she can also engage stimulation in this position by contacting her pelvic area, making orgasm a potentiality.

7. Whole Body Orgasms

Whole body orgasms can occur through any position or combination of stimulation . However, some women have previously reported that these orgasms only happen for them when they engage in very long sexual encounters and ones that include almost excessive amounts of foreplay .

Having prolonged levels of emotional intimacy as well even before anything sexual happens can also increase the chances of this kind of orgasm becoming a possibility.

Best position

Missionary is a common sex position. By making small variations, a man can increase the likelihood of assisting his partner to orgasm. Some helpful variations include using a pillow to lift the receiving partner’s legs higher up or having the male partner use a vibrating cock ring to stimulate the clitoris.

8. Non genital orgasms

Some women have also described experiences which they have orgasmed through stimulation of their breasts, neck, and other sensitive areas of the body that feel pleasurable when touched, in their sleep, and in some cases, with no stimulation at all

Best position

To find the best position, it is necessary to communicate with your partner and discuss what areas of the body she likes to be touched . From here, you can decide together what areas of the body you would like to explore together to see if an orgasm is possible.

It’s important to keep in mind that orgasm may not be the determining factor as to whether or not a woman feels satisfied during sex. Some women may prioritize some orgasm types over others or determine she is only able to orgasm via one type, which is absolutely okay . You want to make sure not to unnecessarily pressure yourself or your partner to explore every orgasm type.

One crucial tip to keep in mind is that when stimulating a woman who is already close to orgasm, most women require a consistent pace of stimulation for the orgasm to happen . When men are close to orgasm, they typically have to speed up their pacing to achieve orgasm. Women, however , may need consistent pacing that remains the same right before they orgasm as changing the pace can make it difficult to orgasm .
